With its gorgeous beaches, charming waterfalls, and unspoiled Atlantic Rainforest, Ilhabela is one of the most sought after getaway destinations for Brazilians and visitors from around the globe.

Besides relaxing on the fine sandy beaches and enjoying the warm water, travelers can explore the island while hiking the tranquil hills that overlook the beaches. I discovered that another refreshing yet adventurous way to discover these marvels is by walking around the lovely town of Ilhabela.

I loved listening to the birds and catching a cool breeze while strolling through the streets of Ilhabela. When I was passing by a park, I found a hammock underneath the trees and spent some free time enjoying the most breathtaking seaside and its laid-back atmosphere. My knowledgeable tour guide said, “When God created Ilhabela, He realized that He had made a true paradise on earth.” Looking at all the people having so much fun on the island of Ilhabela, his words really rang true.

After arriving on the beautiful island of Ilhabela, I sensed that this island has unlimited possibilities. The people I met in Ilhabela were incredibly friendly. I told myself, “I don’t know this place, but it has something very special to be explored. I totally believed in its natural beauty. I also loved its peaceful spirit.
