成語：乘龍佳婿（CHENG LONG JIA XU）: An ideal son—in-law; an extraordinary young man as his son-in-law; an excellent son-in-law; his son-in-law came riding on a dragon from haven.
出處：春秋時代的神話故事。
釋義：稱讚別人的好女婿時可說你的女婿是一位“乘龍佳婿”或 “乘龍快婿”。
故事：春秋時代，秦穆公有個最小的女兒名弄玉，長得很漂亮，又善於吹笙，秦穆公非常喜歡她，一心要為她選擇一個最理想的丈夫。
有一天夜裡，弄玉夢見天山西南方出現美貌的男子，騎著彩鳳到了她所住的樓房前面的鳳台上，那男子對她說，“我是太華山的主管人，玉帝派我來和妳配成夫婦，應當在中秋節這一天見面。說著，就拿出身邊帶來的赤玉簫吹起來，音調非常好聽。弄玉聽得不覺陶醉了。
次日，她把這個夢告訴了穆公。穆公立即派人到太華山去找這個吹簫的人。後來，在太華山找到一個名蕭史的人，隨即把他帶到穆公面前，並命他吹簫。此次他吹出的簫聲比弄玉在夢中聽到的更為美妙。穆公非常高興。弄玉躲在大廳的屏風後偷聽，也情不自禁地說，“他真是我的好丈夫啊！”
當天正是八月十五中秋節，他和蕭史結婚了。婚後不久，蕭史便教弄玉學吹簫，弄玉聰明，本來會吹簫，她一學更加會吹。約半年，在一個夜晚，夫婦兩人正同在月光下面吹簫，忽然一隻紫鳳停在鳳臺左邊，又有一條赤龍停止鳳臺右邊。此時蕭史才說他本是天上的神仙，因為和弄玉注定有一段姻緣，所以特地前來婚配。不過，不應該長久住在人間，現在是離開的時候了。於是，蕭史乘龍，弄玉騎鳳，雙方騰空而去了。

故事英譯 :During the Era of Spring and Autumn, Duke Mu of Kingdom Qin had a youngest daughter named Neng Yu, was very beautiful and was good at performing blowing vertical flute—a Chinese ancient bamboo pipe music instrument. Duke Mu loved her very much and always wanted to look for an ideal husband for her.
One night, Neng Yu had a dream that a handsome young man appeared riding on a colorful phoenix and stopped at the high mound on her back yard. The young man said to her, “I’m the director of Mt. Tai Hua and was assigned by Emperor Yu that we’ll meet on the day of Mid-Autumn Festival; then, we’ll be tied each other in bonds of matrimony. After saying, he took out a crimson jade vertical flute and started to blow it with an excellent melody. Neng Yu, hearing the wonderful music, was fascinated deeply.
On the next day, Neng Yu told her beautiful dream to her father Duke Mu, and Duke Mu immediately sent men going to look for the young man who could play blowing a jade vertical flute very well. As a result, a man named Xiao Shi was found in Tai Hua Mountain, who had a jade vertical flute and could perform it excellently. Xiao Shi was taken to the front of Duke Mu at the court of Qin. Duke Mu let Xiao Shi perform blowing his vertical flute, while Neng Yu sitting and hearing behind the screen in the performing hall. The beautiful music voice Xiao Shi performed at this time was even better than the last one in her dream. Neng Yu heard Xiao Shi’s fascinated melody and could not but said with a pleasant respect, “He is really my ideal husband!” That day was just the day of Mid-Autumn Festival, they married and became a fortune and happy couple.
Not long after they married, Xiao Shi taught Neng Yu learning to blow the vertical flute and within a short period Neng Yu could play to blow a vertical flute very well because she was a clever and talent girl，and she was originally good at blowing the vertical flute.
In a night about after half a year, the couple was performing for blowing their vertical flutes, suddenly a purple phoenix was landing at the left side of the Phoenix Tableland in their back yard and a crimson dragon stopped at once at the right side of the Phoenix Tableland. Meanwhile, Xiao Shi expressed that he was originally a deity in heaven and doomed to marry Neng Yu as his wife, so he came down to the human world; but they should not stay here too long, then Xiao Shi riding on the dragon and Neng Yu on the phoenix took off and flied gone away.
