成語：霜露之疾(SHUANG LOU ZHI JI): a minor disease; a mild sickness like dew and frost that will be gone quickly；a slight disposition; a minute illness; a minute disorder; a diminutive affliction.
出處：漢武帝對丞相公孫弘說的話，後人引用而為成語。
釋義：表示病很輕微；即“微恙”。
故事：漢武帝時代，有位丞相名公孫弘是牧童出身。公孫弘童年至青年，都為富人家養豬，牧羊維生。直到40歲時才開始讀書，因為他知道學問是一個人將來成功最重要的根本。他讀書非常用功，所以他很快的就完成學業。
武帝初年，公孫弘入仕，後來晉升到丞相之職。因為公孫弘是一位正直的人，做事認真，所以在朝中得罪不少權貴。同時，社會風氣對出身低的人瞧不起。公孫弘發現朝廷許多官員都看不起他，他的支持者越來越少。因此他對朝政感覺失望，便決定辭職。一天他生了個小病，於是就利用生病為由向武帝提出辭呈：說他病倒了，沒有能力去處理國家大事，所以請核准他的病假，退休回家休養。而武帝了解丞相的難處，就寫了一封信回复他，“你的病不過是‘霜露之疾’，好像寒霜朝露一樣，一見太陽很快就會消散的。當今，朝中沒有什麼大事處理，你應該放寬心充分的休息，去看個醫生，吃點藥，你的病不久就會痊癒的。為什麼要辭職呢？”同時，武帝賞賜公孫弘許多東西幫助他早日康復。公孫弘知道武帝對他的信任並未降低，便仍然安心的幹下去。
用法：張三到醫院裡去看好友李四，張三說，“ 你的病只是‘霜露之疾’，過幾天就可回家了。”實際上李四的病是癌症，已經病入膏肓。過了幾天他就回天堂老家了。
故事英譯：During the period of Emperor Wu of Han, Premier Gong Sun Hong had been a cowboy in his childhood and youth-hood, to raise and herd pigs, sheep, and goats for rich families. Till his 40 years old, he then started to reading, because he recognized that knowledge is the most important foundation to one’s success in future. He studied very hard, so he completed his study quickly.
In the beginning years of Emperor Wu, Gong Sun Hong began to his mandarin way, and afterward he was promoted to the post of chancellor. However, he offended many of the noble and the powerful in the court because he was a righteous man and took seriously in doing things. In the meantime, the social conception was that people would look down those who had a low-class family background. Premier Gong Sun Hong found that many of the officials in the court despised him and his supporters were less and less. So he felt disappointed to the political situation and decided to resign his job. One day he suffered from a mild sickness, he then took the advantage of his illness submitted his resignation to Emperor Wu; he said in his resignation that he was serious sick and had no strength to do the governmental events, so he had to leave the office and return home for rest. Emperor Wu apprehended the premier’s difficulties, and wrote an answering letter, said, “Your sickness may just be a mild common cold that is a mild sickness, just like frost or dew, would be gone quickly as it meets sunray. Nowadays, there are no important events in the court to deal with, you should be taking easy and be rest fully, and go to see a medicine-man and take some medicine; then your illness will be cured soon; why do you want to resign? ” In the meanwhile, Emperor Wu gave Gong Sun Hong a lot of things as reward for helping him to recover his health early. Gong Sun Hong understood that Emperor Wu’s trust on him didn’t decline, so he continued his work normally.
